Incident overview Earlier this morning, a fire broke out in a shop adjacent to the Baghajatin Railway Station premises. The blaze caused immediate panic among commuters and locals; however, after the swift intervention of the Fire Services and Railway officials, the fire was brought under control before it could spread further into the station area. No casualties and no any movement affected have been reported, although the shop sustained significant damage.
Divisional authority in coordination with local authorities, has initiated a formal enquiry. Preliminary assessments suggest that the storage or use of inflammable materials might have played a role.
This incident brings back memories of a similar fire that occurred in the past near Santoshpur Station. In that instance, fires in unauthorized or adjacent shops led to massive operational disruptions and posed a severe threat to railway infrastructure and passenger safety.
In light of this morning’s event, all are requested for..
• Avoid Inflammable Materials and Strict instructions have been issued to refrain from using or storing highly flammable substances within or adjacent to station premises.
• To protect railway assets any fire near the tracks or station buildings endangers expensive Railway assets, including signalling systems and overhead wires, which are vital for train operations.
• Passenger safety is priority, one act of negligence can lead to a major catastrophe, causing immense hardship and risk to thousands of daily passengers.

It can damage railway property, disrupt operations, and endanger the lives of passengers and railway personnel.
