To facilitate essential infrastructure development and safety maintenance works, Sealdah Division is undertaking two major traffic and power blocks on upcoming weekend of June 6 (Saturday) and June 7 (Sunday), 2026.
The first block involves a 15-hour (900 minutes) Traffic & Power Block on the UP and DN Sub lines (including a 60-minute block on the UP Main line) between Sealdah (SDAH) and Kankurgachi Road Junction (KGK) for the re-girdering of Bridge No. 3. This block will be effective from 22:15 hrs on Saturday to 13:15 hrs on Sunday. Additionally, movements to and from Narkeldanga (NKG) Carshed will remain suspended from 19:00 hrs on Saturday to 16:00 hrs on Sunday.
The existing girders, having served their lifespan, are being replaced as part of a proactive safety initiative. The installation of modern, robust girders will not only reinforce the structural integrity of the bridge but also pave the way for enhanced train speeds and smoother operations in this vital section.
*The second block is a 6-hour (360 minutes) Traffic Block at Ballygunge (BLN) station limit on the DN Passenger line for the complete Point conversion of point no. 120B/121A from 52 kg to 60 kg. This block will be operational from 23:10 hrs on Saturday to 05:10 hrs on Sunday.*
Divisional authorities have meticulously planned these mega blocks during the weekend (Saturday night and Sunday). As Sunday is a public holiday, the impact on daily commuters and office-goers will be significantly reduced.
Consequently, suburban train services in Sealdah North and South sections will be regulated as follows:
