The Eastern Railway Sports Association (ERSA) inaugurated a state-of-the-art Chess Academy, “LAKSHYA”, today at the Eastern Railway Sports Complex, J.L. Sarani, Behala. The grand opening ceremony was graced by Shri Milind Deouskar, General Manager, Eastern Railway and Patron, ERSA, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. Smt. Seema Deouskar, President, Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ERWWO), was also present as the Special Guest. Shri Milind Deouskar and Smt. Seema Deouskar jointly inaugurated “LAKSHYA” – Eastern Railway Chess Academy by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Shri Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager and President of ERSA, along with the Principal Chief Engineer (PCE), other senior officers, and distinguished Grandmasters, were also present at the programme.

Smt. Seema Deouskar appreciated this commendable initiative aimed at nurturing chess talent.
In his address, Shri Milind Deouskar emphasized the strategic and intellectual value of chess and expressed confidence that the newly launched academy would become a hub for excellence, training, and inspiration for budding chess players. He also offered valuable suggestions for the further improvement of the Chess Academy.

The President of ERSA briefed the gathering on the vision and mission of the academy.

The Chess Academy “LAKSHYA” marks yet another milestone in Eastern Railway’s legacy of sporting achievements and aims to contribute significantly to the development of chess at the grassroots level.
