• Employees and Officers Familiarise with Updated GeM 4.0 Platform.
Sealdah Division organised GeM (Government e-Marketplace) Workshop with the objective of promoting wider, effective and transparent use of the GeM portal for procurement of General goods and services across different departments and workshops for the first time over Eastern Railway.
Shri Anuj Kumar, Director/GeM, New Delhi, and Shri Sayantan Roy, Director/GeM, New Delhi, the guest speakers, the workshop was attended by more than 250 officers and employees from various departments of Sealdah Division, along with officers from other workshop, divisions and Headquarters of Eastern Railway and other organisation like Braithwate. The programme was conducted under the leadership of Shri Ashish Kr. Mitra, Sr. Divisional Material Manager, Sealdah, with the guidance of Shri Rajeev Saxena, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah.
The main objective of the workshop was to familiarise employees and officers with the updated GeM 4.0 platform, its procurement procedures, services and enhanced features. The session also addressed common issues faced by railway buyers and processing of payment of bill of sellers without any online technical glitch while using the portal. GeM experts explained the processes in a simple and practical manner, helping participants better understand the system, clarify their technical doubts and resolve operational queries for smoother and more efficient use of the platform.
GeM has evolved from a platform primarily used for procurement of general items by the Govt. organisation into a comprehensive digital marketplace offering a wider range of products and services. The workshop highlighted the benefits of using the platform while ensuring transparency, quality and compliance with prescribed procurement procedures.
Speaking on this occasion, Shri Rajeev Saxena, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah said, GeM provides a transparent and structured platform for government procurement. Through this workshop, our aim is to familiarise sellers and buyers with the updated system and encourage wider use of GeM. This will make the procurement process more systematic and smoother.
