Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway has rolled out a series of significant passenger-centric initiatives, highlighted by the re-opening of the ‘Prafulla Dwar’ at Sealdah Station.
These upgrades, implemented strategically ahead of the massive passenger rush during the Durga Puja festivities, aim to provide a smoother, more efficient, and hassle-free experience for commuters and pandal hoppers.
The initiative has already garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback from passengers, who have expressed their delight with the new gateway, efficient and speedy ticketing system, noting a substantial reduction in queuing time streamlined parking arrangements, and superior crowd management during the peak festive period.
The newly opened ‘Prafulla Dwar’ situated on Platform No. 1 of Sealdah Station, is a strategic addition designed to significantly ease congestion and facilitate the seamless movement of passengers, especially those on the Sealdah Main Line.
To tackle the massive influx of people, Sealdah Division implemented a robust and comprehensive crowd management plan that has been met with great relief by commuters:
• Designated Entry/Exit Points: Clear, separate routes have been established for arriving and departing passengers, with the ‘Prafulla Dwar’ serving as a crucial, dedicated exit for local train commuters, effectively eliminating bottlenecks.
• Hassle-Free Parking Conversion: The Paid Parking Area was successfully utilized as a ‘crowd holding area’ to prevent overcrowding on platforms. This proactive measure ensured that even during the busiest hours, the station maintained an organized flow.
• Superior Crowd Control: The deployment of additional Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and the clear guidance by signages provided at every turn have been instrumental in maintaining order and ensuring a secure and seamless experience for passengers and festive visitors alike.
