*More Trains, Smoother Commutes, Sealdah Division Unveils Major Suburban Network Expansion.*

• *Another step towards comfortable commuting: Sealdah–Barasat gets its own AC Local service in continuation to existing 10 AC EMU services.*
• *Additional EMU services in Diamond Harbour and Hasnabad sections during evening peak hours.*
• *New services in Aamghata–Krishnanagar section and Barasat – Dum Dum Cantt. Section.*
• *Three train extensions to strengthen suburban connectivity: Baruipur to Lakshmikantapur, Sealdah- Ranaghat local upto Krishnanagar and Ranaghat–Shantipur–Krishnanagar local up to Aamghata.*

To address rising passenger footfall and ease peak-hour commuting, Eastern Railway’s Sealdah Division has decided to enhance its suburban train network. Based on a detailed assessment of commuter needs, Sealdah division is introducing new trains and extended services to improve passenger experience, W.E.F 06.07.2026.

Enhancing section-wise suburban connectivity new and extended services are targeted at reducing overcrowding and strengthening travel reliability across dense suburban pockets of the division:

*Sealdah – Barasat Section*

• New AC Local (Sealdah – Barasat): A premium AC EMU Local service is being introduced to provide an upgraded, comfortable commute on this highly frequented section. The train will stop at Bidhannagar Road (BNXR), Dum Dum Jn (DDJ), Dum Dum Cantonment (DDC), Birati (BBT), and Madhyamgram (MMG). Service depart from Sealdah at 10:33 hrs, while return service leave Barasat at 11:29 hrs.
• Metro Connectivity for Hasnabad: To cater to the heavy evening rush on the Hasnabad section, 33319 Barasat(BT) Hasnabad(HNB) will now start from Dum Dum Cantonment (DDC) at 17:24 hrs instead of Barasat and arrives Hasnabad at 19:20 hrs. This gives commuters a direct, easy connection from Metro and new service from Barasat–Dum Dum Cantt. local has also been added.
**This will be third service originating from Dum Dum Cantonment (DDC) to Bangaon(BNJ)/Hasnabad(HNB) at peak hours giving connectivity to Metro.)

*Sealdah South Section*
• Sealdah – Diamond Harbour Section: To strengthen coverage during busy evening peak, 2 services are being added for Sealdah (18:20) – Diamond Harbour (20:01) and Diamond Harbour (20:20) – Sonarpur (21:14) hrs and regularizing special trains such as Sonarpur–Diamond Harbour local and Diamond Harbour–Sealdah local to ensure dependable daily travel.

• *Sealdah – Canning Section:* Train 34420 Sealdah–Sonarpur Local is being extended all the way to Canning (departing Sealdah at 09:50 hrs). Additionally, a new Canning–Sonarpur local will start, leaving Canning at 11:30 hrs. Services already running as Special, to be regularised.

• *Baruipur – Lakshmikantapur Sections* : Existing services are being extended for a wider reach in evening, Sealdah–Baruipur Local will now run up to Lakshmikantapur, depart Sealdah at 19:56 hrs, Arrive Lakshmikantapur at 21:27, and Baruipur–Sonarpur service will now originate from Lakshmikantapur at 21:35 and arrive Sonarpur at 22:38 hrs.

*Sealdah – Krishnanagar – Shantipur Section.*

• *Sealdah – Krishnanagar Section* : Addressing the lack of late-night trains towards Krishnanagar, Sealdah division will run an experimental extension of Sealdah–Ranaghat Local (31629) depart Sealdah at 22:08 hrs up to Krishnanagar (00:23). On the return side, Train 31614 will now start from Krishnanagar instead of Ranaghat at 5:34 AM 5 days in a week (Monday to Friday).

• *Direct Connectivity to Amghata:* Train 31585 (Ranaghat–Shantipur–Krishnanagar) is extended to Amghata (AHT)to facilitate the passengers of Dignagar. A new Amghata–Krishnanagar local will also start, helping passengers from Amghata smoothly connect to both Sealdah and Shantipur bound trains.
