Newssuper.in Report Tania Kundu Kolkata 03.09.2025:
Sealdah Division Eastern Railway successfully completed a large-scale ticket checking and inspection drive on the Sealdah-Lalgola section, led by Principal Chief Commercial Manager Dr. Uday Shankar Jha and Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager Sri Jasram Meena. The initiative, which generated a total revenue of Rs. 2,25,000, was designed to promote responsible travel habits, ensure ticket compliance, and improve cleanliness.
The comprehensive drive resulted in 306 cases being registered against passengers. These cases primarily involved individuals traveling without a ticket, carrying un booked luggage, or spitting on railway premises. The significant recovery of unpaid dues highlights the Sealdah Division’s commitment to ensuring fairness and accountability.
Beyond revenue generation, Dr. Jha also focused on enhancing the overall passenger experience. He conducted a thorough inspection of passenger amenities, met directly with travellers to gather feedback, and engaged with vendors at Naihati station to discuss beautification projects. Additionally, he assessed the condition of various goods sheds along the route to identify potential improvements that could benefit both the Sealdah Division and Eastern Railway.
In this context, DRM Sealdah, Sri Rajeev Saxena, stated that, this special drive is about more than just penalizing offenders. It is a vital step toward fostering awareness and a sense of responsibility among the public. Our main goal is to educate passengers about the importance of having a valid ticket, adhering to luggage regulations, and maintaining hygiene in public spaces. These initiatives are crucial for promoting safe and comfortable travel for everyone. This successful drive underscores the Sealdah Division’s on-going efforts to create a safe, clean, and efficient travel environment for all commuters.
