Newssuper Tania Kundu Report KOLKATA , July 6, 2025:
In a testament to exceptional vigilance and coordinated efforts, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Sealdah Railway Station has successfully dismantled a significant human trafficking attempt, rescued a minor girl and apprehended two traffickers. This critical intervention, conducted as part of “Operation Nanhe Fariste” underscores the unwavering commitment of the RPF under the astute leadership of Shri M.K. Singh, Sr. DSC, and the dynamic guidance of Shri Rajeev Saxena, DRM Sealdah.
The dramatic turn of events unfolded on July 4, 2025, when a sharp-eyed team from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Sealdah Main Post, while on a routine drive, spotted a visibly distressed 16-year-old girl, Sahani Parveen, alone on Platform No. 12. Her nervousness immediately raised suspicion. Upon questioning, Sahani revealed a shocking tale: she had been lured from Canning with promises of a high-paying job in Delhi, handed over by a relative to an unknown woman, all with her parents’ consent. This setup, tragically common in trafficking cases, aimed to exploit her vulnerability.
Acting swiftly on Sahani’s information, the RPF team pinpointed and detained the first woman, Aklima Khatun Molla (47). She confessed to her role, revealing she was about to hand over the minor to another accomplice, Mariyam Bibi (39), for the next leg of the journey to Delhi on train No. 12379 Exp. Without hesitation, Mariyam Bibi was also apprehended. Further interrogation exposed the sinister network: Mariyam Bibi admitted she was merely a transporter, tasked with delivering the girl to a “Naseer” in Delhi, who would then force her into household labor. Aklima Khatun Molla chillingly disclosed her long-standing involvement in this illicit trade, admitting to earning Rs. 1500 per girl trafficked for domestic servitude.
Sri Saxena DRM/ Sealdah stated that this is a major breakthrough that has undoubtedly saved a young life from a dark future. The dedication and sharp instincts of our RPF team, ensured that this vicious cycle was broken right here at Sealdah.
Both accused women, Aklima Khatun Molla and Mariyam Bibi, have been taken into custody. Medical examinations for the rescued minor and the traffickers were conducted at NRS Hospital. A detailed written complaint, along with all necessary documents, has been handed over to the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) Sealdah. Based on the complaint, a specific case, vide no. 73/2025 dated 04.07.2025, has been registered against both traffickers under Section 143(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), ensuring legal action as per the provisions of the law. The rescued minor girl is now safely under the care of GRPS Sealdah.
