Sealdah Division successfully conducted a comprehensive ticket checking drive across the Barasat-Bangaon and Sealdah-Naihati sections, led by Principle Chief Commercial Manager Dr. Uday Shankar Jha, accompanied by Divisional Commercial Manager Sri Sashi Ranjan. The initiative aimed to ensure ticket compliance, discourage unbooked luggage, and promote cleanliness among passengers.
The rigorous checking drive resulted in the detection of 605 cases in the Barasat-Bangaon section and 644 cases in the Sealdah-Naihati section. These cases primarily involved passengers traveling without tickets, carrying unbooked luggage, and spitting on railway premises. A total revenue of Rs. 1,54,720 was generated from the Barasat-Bangaon section, and Rs. 1,75,195 from the Sealdah-Naihati section, amounting to a significant recovery of unpaid dues.
In this context DRM Sealdah Sri Rajeev Saxena said that this special drive is not merely about penalizing offenders but is a crucial step towards fostering a sense of alertness and awareness among the public. The primary objective is to educate passengers about the importance of possessing a valid ticket, the regulations regarding luggage, and maintaining hygiene in public spaces. Sealdah Division emphasizes that such drives are integral to promoting responsible travel habits and ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for all commuters.
