In a major crackdown against ticketless travel and to ensure a hassle-free experience for genuine passengers, Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway conducted a comprehensive Special Ticket Checking Drive across the entire division.
The intensive drive was aimed not just at revenue protection, but primarily at raising awareness among commuters about the importance of traveling with valid documents and fostering a culture of disciplined travel. In this drive total cases detected: 2,182 and total Fine realized: Rs 5,24,035 from all major stations and sections within the Sealdah Division.
During the exercise, team of checking staff, supported by security personnel, performed rigorous checking. Passengers found traveling without tickets, with improper tickets, or carrying unbooked luggage were penalized as per the Railway Act.
The primary objective of this drive is to create a deterrent for ticketless travel and to sensitize the public. Every ticket purchased contributes directly to the improvement of railway infrastructure and passenger amenities.
Sealdah Division once again appeals to all passengers to travel with dignity by purchasing valid tickets through booking counters, ATVMs, or RailOne app. Similar surprise checks will continue across the division to discourage unauthorized travel and ensure comfort for law-abiding commuters.
