Newssuper Sealdah, 01.06.2025 – In a resounding success story for passenger safety and security, Sealdah Division has once again highlighted the positive impact of its pioneering initiative to curb the menace of fake Ticket Examiners (TTEs). Thanks to the unique badge system implemented across all TTE uniforms – a first-of-its-kind endeavour in the entire Sealdah Divisional network – and the foresight of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) Sri Jasram Meena, Sealdah Division has successfully thwarted not one, but two imposters masquerading as railway officials. This innovative measure has truly empowered both passengers and railway staff, fostering a new era of vigilance.

The effectiveness of this program was demonstrably proven when alert passengers on Train No. 53175 (Sealdah – Lalgola Passenger) apprehended an individual impersonating a TTE. The imposter, later identified as Sanjoy Ghosal, became nervous when questioned about his official TTE badge by the passengers of the train, which he did not possess. His suspicious behaviour prompted vigilant citizens to alert on-duty TTE, who promptly handed him over to RPF Post Krishnanagar city Jn. During interrogation, Ghosal confessed to being a fake TTE or Vigilance officer. A case was registered against him under relevant sections.

Adding to this success Just after the Krishnanagar incident, vigilance remained high. At Laxmikantapur station, a keen-eyed group of on-duty TTEs noticed a man aggressively demanding tickets from passengers. His hurried movements and loud, authoritative tone immediately raised their suspicions. When they asked to produce his official badge, the impostor’s confident facade crumbled. He fumbled, stammered, and ultimately failed to produce the newly implemented official badge and other identification. The swift action of the TTEs led to his immediate apprehension and handover to RPF/Laxmikantapur, preventing further potential fraud.”

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sealdah Sri Rajeev Saxena stated that these incidents serve as a powerful testament to the success of the Sealdah Division’s proactive measure. The unique badge initiative has not only equipped genuine TTEs with a clear mark of authenticity but has also empowered the public to differentiate between authorized personnel and frauds. This exemplary display of citizen awareness and alertness showcases how a simple yet effective administrative change can foster greater security and trust within the railway system.

Sealdah Division remains committed to ensuring a safe and secure travel experience for all passengers, demonstrating how proactive measures and enhanced vigilance, born from the foresight of its leadership, are truly making a difference.
