After opening of 3 Metro Sections at one go by Hon’ble PM on 22nd August, the suburban transportation system is experiencing radical changes which necessities Sealdah Division to supplement this transportation revolution with more services. Footfall has been significantly increased at major interchange points like Sealdah, Dumdum Jn. and Dumdum Cantonment. In recent past, Sealdah Division has also introduced one AC EMU Local in between Sealdah & Ranaghat which has got huge patronage making the service commercially viable. In an endeavour to reduce ever increasing congestion at Railway stations, particularly at Sealdah, Bidhannagar Road, DumDum, DumDum Cant. etc., Division is contemplating augmentation of more EMU services in different sections to cater to the daily commuters during morning and evening peak hours.
As a part of that endeavour, Sealdah Devision has decided to introduce 2 more AC EMUs. *Ranaghat – Bangaon – Sealdah AC local will depart Ranaghat at 07:11 hrs, reach Bangaon at 07.52 hrs and arrive Sealdah at 09:37 hrs. The UP AC service will depart Sealdah at 18:14 hrs, reach at Bangaon at 20.04 and terminate Ranaghat at 20:41 hrs. Sealdah – Krishnanagar AC EMU service will depart Sealdah at 09:48 hrs to arrive Krishnanagar at 12:07 hrs. Down AC local will depart Krishnanagar at 13:30 hrs to reach Sealdah at 15:40 hrs.*
Apart, Sealdah Division is gearing up to introduce more EMU Services from Bidhan Nagar in evening peak hours to manage passenger rush. *One new Bidhannagar – Kalyani EMU train will leave Bidhan Nagar at 19:28 hrs to reach Kalyani at 20:36 hrs. Down Kalyani – Sealdah local will depart Kalyani at 20:52 hrs to arrive Sealdah at 22:19 hrs. In addition, 01 pair of EMU services is proposed in Barasat – Hasnabad section. Barasat – Hasnabad local will leave Barasat at 12:15 hrs to reach Hasnabad at 13:38 hrs. And Hasnabad – Barasat local will depart Hasnabad at 13:55 hrs to terminate Barasat at 15:25 hrs.*
