To ensure a seamless travel experience and robust security at Sealdah, Kakdwip & Namkhana Station, a high-level coordination meeting was convened today. The session was chaired by the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (OP)/Sealdah Sri Prasun Chakraborty and organized by the Sr. Divisional Security Commissioner/ Sealdah, Sri Manoj Kumar Singh.
Highlight of the meeting was the active participation of the Kolkata Police, alongside senior officials from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and West Bengal Police. The primary objective was to bridge the gap between station-side management and city-side.
*Major Highlights of the Discussion:*
*Streamlined Parking & Traffic Flow* : In direct consultation with DC Traffic Kolkata, the committee discussed a comprehensive plan to reorganize parking layouts. This initiative aims to eliminate bottlenecks at the station entry/exit points and ensure that commercial and private vehicles do not obstruct the main thoroughfare.
*Crowd Management Synergy* : Recognizing Sealdah’s massive daily footfall, Sri Chakraborty, emphasized a joint crowd management strategy. This involves synchronized efforts between the RPF and Kolkata Police to manage passenger movement from the platforms to the city.
*Upgraded Passenger Amenities* : The meeting reviewed the status of Bio-toilets and sanitation facilities within the station premises. Instructions were issued to ensure these facilities are well-maintained and accessible to all commuters.
*Security Protocol* : The officials established a framework for better communication between the Railway authorities and the Kolkata Police wing to handle emergency situations and peak-hour surges effectively monitored through War room.
Additional Divisional Railway Manager (OP) Sri Prasun Chakraborty stated that the involvement of the Kolkata and West Bengal Police is crucial for the Gangasagar Mela ensuring that the station’s internal efficiency is matched by smooth external connectivity.
