Newssuper Report Tania Kundu Kolkata,03 December: Eastern Railway, Sealdah Division will be introducing a new Air-Conditioned (AC) EMU Local train service between Sealdah and Kalyani and significantly extending the running days of the existing AC service on the Sealdah – Krishnanagar Section.

This enhanced service will commence operations from December 4, 2025 (Sealdah-Kalyani) and December 7, 2025 (extended Sealdah – Krishnanagar Sunday service), providing significantly enhanced comfort and convenience for thousands of daily commuters.

The AC Local service fulfils a long-standing public demand and aims to provide a premium, yet accessible, travel experience on this high-traffic route. The service is expected to be particularly beneficial for:

• Students travelling to major educational institutions such as Kalyani University.
• Patients visiting AIIMS, Kalyani.
• Professionals heading to the industrial, administrative, and commercial centres around Kalyani, seeking a comfortable and reliable alternative to conventional suburban trains.

New AC EMU Local details as follows:
1. *Sealdah – Kalyani AC Service:*
• This primary service will run six days in a week (Monday to Saturday).
• Train No. 31347/31344 Sealdah – Kalyani – Sealdah.
• Departure from Sealdah: 3:35 PM, arrives Kalyani at 4:52 PM
• Departure from Kalyani: 05:02 PM , arrives Sealdah at 06:20 PM
2. *Extended Sealdah – Krishnanagar AC Service:*
• The AC service on the Sealdah-Krishnanagar section, which was previously operational on certain days, will now run for one extra day in a week, (in different time) specifically on Sunday. This extension, commencing December 7, 2025, is specifically aimed at benefitting the large number of visitors and devotees who plan their travel during the weekend.
• Train No. 31847/31848 Sealdah – Krishnanagar (Sunday)
• Departure from Sealdah: 11:55 AM , arrives Krishnanagar at 14:11 PM
• Departure from Krishnanagar: 04:05 PM , arrives Sealdah at 06:20 PM
• En-route Stoppages: Bidhannagar, Dumdum, Belgharia, Sodepur, Khardaha, Barrackpore, Shaymnagar, Naihati, Kanchrapara, Kalyani, Chakdah, and Ranaghat.
3. *New Non-AC Extended Service upto Kalyani.*
• In addition to the new AC local, an extended Non-AC train service originating from BBD Bag (Kolkata) will also now run up to Kalyani, further enhancing connectivity.

In summary, with the new service and existing operations, there will be a total of three AC Local services available 07 days in a week for commuters, devotees and patient traveling to/from Kalyani, offering multiple convenient options.

This new service promises a comfortable and quicker commute, shielded from the external heat and humidity, ensuring a pleasant journey for all passengers. The train will make limited stops between Sealdah – Kalyani and Sealdah – Krishnanagar, contributing to a faster travel time compared to conventional local services.
