Being lifeline of Kolkata’s suburban transportation system, Bidhannagar Station play pivotal role in dealing passenger rush particularly during peak hours. In normal days Bidhananagar Road Station has a massive footfall of approx 1.7 lakh out of which we experience more than 1 lakh footfall during morning and evening peak hours only, causing huge overcrowding.
Bidhannagar is an immensely important station of the Sealdah Division due to it’s strategic location and extensive connectivity because of it’s proximity with Salt Lake, Sealdah, Kankurgachi, Sector V, Rajarhat New Town etc. Apart, it also serves as a crucial connector between North & South sections.
Eastern Railways, Sealdah Division is going to introduce of another pair of new suburban local train services, 31343 UP Bidhan Nagar Road to Kalyani starting from Bidhan Nagar Road at 19.27 hrs and will be reaching Kalyani at 20.36 hrs with stoppages at all stations en-route and in return journey 31340 DN Kalyani-Sealdah Local will start from Kalyani at 20.55 hrs and will arrive Sealdah at 22.19 hrs. This new services will run from Monday to Saturday in every week. This new service will commence operations from Monday, September 22, 2025, providing reliable and efficient travel options for passengers.
The introduction of these additional services reflects our continuous efforts to meet the growing demand for public transportation in the region.
