Newssuper Report Tania Kundu Kolkata, April 6, 2026:To accommodate the heavy rush of passengers and ensure a comfortable journey during the ongoing period of high demand, Eastern Railway Sealdah Division operationalize several Unreserved Special Trains and attach extra coaches to existing Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) bound trains.
These measures are specifically aimed at clearing the extra rush and providing relief to commuters traveling between West Bengal and various destinations in the Northeast.
*Four special trains have been scheduled for April 6, 2026.*
Train No. 05851 (Rangapara to Kolkata) is scheduled to arrive at Kolkata Station at 17:00 hrs, while its counterpart, Train No. 05852, will depart from Kolkata Station at 22:00 hrs heading back to Rangapara.
Similarly, Train No. 05465 (Alipurduar Jn to Kolkata) will arrive at 16:30 hrs, and Train No. 05466 will depart from Kolkata Station at 22:30 hrs for Alipurduar Jn.
These trains will consist of 21 and 16 coaches respectively, providing significant carrying capacity via the Azimganj – Murshidabad route.
In addition to the special trains, Eastern Railway Sealdah Division is augmenting the capacity of popular NFR-bound services from Sealdah on April 6, 2026.
Train No. 13141 (Teesta Torsa Express), departing for New Alipurduar at 15:00 hrs, will be attached with additional GSCN (Unreserved) coaches. Furthermore, Train No. 13147 (Uttar Banga Express), departing from Sealdah for Bamanhat at 19:40 hrs, will be reinforced with an extra LS (Unreserved) coach to manage the platform crowd.
To meet any sudden surges in passenger volume, division has also stationed Scratch Rakes at key terminal stations including Birati(BBT), Champapukur (CQR), and Kolkata (KOAA). These rakes, ranging from 15 to 22 coaches and including AC 2-tier (ACCW) and AC 3-tier (ACCN) options, are kept in readiness to be pressed into service at short notice.
Sealdah Division requests passengers to plan their journey accordingly and utilize these additional services for a hassle-free experience.
