Newssuper, Report Tania Kundu :Sealdah, October 30, 2025:
In a major stride toward employee welfare and administrative modernization General Manager ER Sri Milind Deuskar open “Rail Mitra Kendra” at Sealdah Division today. This dedicated single-window facility is conceived as an all-inclusive solution, strongly reflecting the Division’s sustained commitment to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for its workforce. Smt Seema Deuskar also open renovated P.L.Roy Indoor stadium as a step further towards Eastern Railways endeavour sports promotion.
The establishment of the Rail Mitra Kendra stands as a testament to the ethos of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’. The facility has been created on a site that was previously characterized by neglect and accumulated debris. Following an intensive cleanliness drive, the location was fully transformed. Crucially, the entire transformation was executed with special consideration for the challenges faced by Senior Citizens, Retired Employees, and Differently-Abled Staff (Divyangjan). To ensure their utmost convenience and comfort while seeking assistance, a dedicated waiting lounge has been created for employees visiting with their problems, keeping the needs of these groups central to the design. This initiative effectively addresses all difficulties they previously encountered in accessing services, making the Kendra truly inclusive and user-friendly.
The new facility eliminates the previous fragmented approach where staff had to approach multiple departments for their queries and documentation, a process that often led to wasted time and significant delays. By centralizing and streamlining the process, Sealdah Division ensures employees can now access a wide array of services conveniently in a single location. This significant move is expected to save valuable time, drastically reduce paperwork, and elevate satisfaction levels across the workforce.
The facilitation centre will cater to a broad spectrum of employee needs, operating on the principles of “Accessibility, Transparency, and Efficiency.” Services include:
• Settlement and Pension services for retiring staff.
• Grievance Redressal support with dedicated help desks.
• HRMS (Human Resource Management System) and digital platform assistance.
• Medical, Welfare, and Pass/PTO (Privilege Ticket Order) facilitation.
• Guidance on loans, advances, and allowances.
• Support for family members of employees, particularly in settlement and compassionate appointment cases.
To further ensure inclusivity, trained staff at the centre will guide employees through both online and offline processes, making digital services accessible even to those less familiar with technology.
*DRM Sealdah, Sri Rajeev Saxena*, stated that the Rail Mitra Kendra is intended to be “a friend and guide for every railway employee and their family.” He added, “By consolidating services, we aim to provide timely, transparent, and hassle-free solutions. This step unequivocally reaffirms our commitment to employee welfare, which remains the backbone of Indian Railways.”
In a parallel move to boost employee well-being, the P.L. Roy Indoor Stadium has also been renovated and reopened. The upgraded stadium now provides comprehensive facilities for various sports and activities, including Badminton, Table Tennis, and Yoga, promoting a healthy and productive lifestyle among the railway fraternity.
The Rail Mitra Kendra at Sealdah Division is envisioned as a model facilitation centre for Eastern Railway, setting a new benchmark for creating a supportive and productive workplace.
