A new era of smart patrolling begins at Kharagpur!
Shri Lalit Mohan Pandey, DRM/Kharagpur, inaugurated modern battery-operated Segway vehicles for RPF personnel at Kharagpur Railway Station on 15 October 2026 — a first for South Eastern Railway.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Kharagpur Railway Station premises where DRM Shri Lalit Mohan Pandey flagged off the Segway vehicles in presence of senior railway officers and RPF personnel including women RPF staff.
These eco-friendly, battery-operated Segways will enhance RPF mobility and ensure quicker response for passenger safety.
According to officials, Kharagpur Railway Station is one of the busiest and longest platforms in the country. With these new vehicles, RPF personnel can now cover the entire station area in less time and respond faster during emergencies.
Speaking on the occasion, DRM Kharagpur said that Indian Railways is committed to modernizing security infrastructure under the mission of safer railways.
The move has been widely appreciated by passengers and railway staff. These Segways will be used for regular patrolling, crowd management and ensuring safety of women and elderly passengers.
